Tabsafe: Privacy Policy

What the extension does

It takes automatic snapshots of your open windows, tabs and groups, keeps a log of closed tabs and named sessions, imports lists exported from other tab savers, writes a backup file when you ask, and, on Pro, on a schedule. It reads the address and title of your tabs for that purpose only.

What happens to your tabs

Nothing leaves your computer. Tabsafe stores your snapshots in your browser and writes backup files to your Downloads folder when you press Back up now or export, and on Pro on the schedule you choose. It does not send tab addresses, page titles or lists to any server, and it has no analytics, no advertising and no account.

Data stored on your computer

• Your snapshots and closed-tab log: the address and title of each tab, the window or group it came from and the time it was saved. They are kept for 14 days on Free and 365 days on Pro. If Pro ends, older entries stay stored, up to 365 days, and are listed again when Pro returns.
• Your named sessions, the sessions you import, and your settings.
• Your Pro licence key and pass end date, if you activate Pro, and the start and end dates of the free trial.

This data lives in your browser's extension storage. Uninstalling the extension deletes it. A backup or export file written to your Downloads folder is a normal file on your computer and is not deleted with the extension.

Data that leaves your computer

Nothing, unless you take one of two actions.

• Activating Pro. Your licence key goes to our licence server at gigscope-api.exochard.workers.dev, which checks it with Payhip (the seller of record for Pro passes). The key is sent again at most once a day while a pass is active. Nothing else is sent with it.
• Pressing Send on the suggestion form, in the extension or on the roadmap page. The text you typed, your email address only if you entered one, and the Tabsafe version number go to the same server, so we can read and answer them. Nothing is sent until you press Send. Firefox asks your permission first.

Access to websites

Tabsafe does not read the content of the pages you visit. It uses the browser's tabs permission to read the address and title of your open tabs.
