| Topic | Session Buddy | Tabsafe |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free. Its site says cloud storage is in development | Free; Pro is €12 for a year or €29 once. Nothing renews |
| Free tier | All of it | Automatic snapshots and a closed-tab log kept 14 days, restore, search, 5 named sessions, Back up now, import OneTab and Session Buddy exports. Pro keeps history 365 days, writes scheduled backup files, exports the full history and compares snapshots |
| Where your data goes | Local storage in the browser. Its own site says any data an extension stores locally is at risk | Snapshots stay in your browser, and Pro backup files are normal files in your Downloads folder. Nothing is sent unless you activate Pro (the licence key) or press Send on the suggestion form |
| Login needed | None that we found | No account |
| Reports of lost data | A third-party write-up says version 4 moved storage from Web SQL to IndexedDB and left some users with an empty database | Tabsafe is new and has no track record. Its answer is automatic snapshots, and on Pro a scheduled backup file outside the browser profile |
| Moving your lists | Exports JSON and CSV, plus text formats, and a documented format | Imports the JSON export. Windows become lists, tabs become entries |
| Browsers | A Chrome Web Store extension | Microsoft Edge and Firefox, on desktop |
